You’ll fly into the Sunshine State of Florida arriving in Orlando. You’ll then head South to Miami and along the Overseas Highway to laid back Key West on the most southern tip of the USA. Your trip will then take you up through the Everglades and to the beautiful beaches of the Gulf Coast before heading back to Orlando for your flight home.
All our road trips can be shortened or extra nights added or modified with upgraded hotels, car etc. We love building tailor made trips!
Days 1 - 3:
Orlando (3 nights)
Arrive in the Sunshine State of Florida and you’ll be able to spend two full days at the theme parks. We can increase the number of days to suit, but you’ll almost certainly want to enjoy Walt Disney World and Universal Orlando. We can usually obtain 1 or 2 day tickets for the major parks.
Days 4 - 6:
Miami (3 nights)
Today drive south to Miami where you’ll spend the next three nights. From your hotel in South Beach you will only be feet from Ocean Drive and a choice of great restaurants, bars and the buzz of Miami. Spend an afternoon shopping and a morning on our art-deco self guided walking tour.
Leave Miami and head even further south. Soon, you’ll get onto Highway 1, known as the Overseas Highway. You’ll stop for the night in Key Largo. We recommend visiting the Key Largo Hammock Botanical State Park or the John Pennekamp Coral Reef State Park and there are various wildlife sanctuaries in the Key Largo area.
Days 8 & 9:
Key West (2 nights)
Continue along the Overseas Highway to Key West, the southern-most point in continental USA for the next two nights. There's a nice laid back atmosphere here. Duval Street is where most of the lively action is, but make sure you check out the sunset at Mallory Square and also Ernest Hemmingway’s house which is located here in Key West.
Days 10 & 11:
Everglades NP (2 nights)
Today you’ll drive back along the amazing Overseas Highway hopping from island to island before you arrive back in mainland Florida. The next two nights you’ll stay near the Everglades National Park, a wildlife rich area stretching out over 1.5 million acres of remote land.
Naples; a boutique seafront city known for fine hotels, restaurants, shopping and its challenging golf courses – a paradise on Florida’s Paradise Coast. It has an idyllic neighbour in Marco Island, a haven of 23 square miles - the biggest outcrop among the Ten Thousand Islands that fringe the edge of southwest Florida
Days 13 & 14:
Sarasota (2 nights)
Heading north, a side trip to sister islands Sanibel and Captiva is one worth making; these barrier islands are rich in wildlife and have gorgeous beaches. An extra night here or in any of the overnight locations can easily be added to your trip.
Days 15 & 16:
Orlando & Fly Home
Today you’ll take a steady cruise back to Orlando, some 130 miles ready for your overnight flight home this evening.
Alternatively we can arrange for you to spend a few days in the parks at the end of your trip instead of the beginning.
Our standard prices include a small family car, but you can hire a convertible or SUV. Take a look at your car choice here.
We are completely independent and have a wide choice of hotels. We can upgrade some or all of your hotels. Just ask us!
