After an overnight stay in Kamloops, the train continues toward the soaring peaks of the Canadian Rockies, passing shimmering lakes, waterfalls, forested slopes and highlights such as the Yellowhead Pass and magnificent Mount Robson. The journey ends with a relaxed two-night stay in Jasper, allowing you to enjoy the tranquillity and alpine atmosphere of Jasper National Park. This itinerary can be travelled in either direction, making it easy to combine with road trips, extra hotel nights or onward adventures throughout the Rockies — a perfect balance of luxury, comfort and breathtaking scenery.

Days 1-2: arrive & explore vancouver

Your holiday begins with two nights in beautiful Vancouver, giving you plenty of time to settle in and explore this Pacific gem before boarding the Rocky Mountaineer. Spend your first afternoon getting to know the city’s waterfront districts, strolling the famous seawall or enjoying the boutiques, bars and restaurants of Gastown and Yaletown. The following day, you can dive deeper into Vancouver’s mix of nature and culture: cycle through Stanley Park, wander the artisan markets of Granville Island, or take in panoramic city views from Grouse Mountain or the Capilano Suspension Bridge. With its relaxed atmosphere, fresh coastal air and striking mountain backdrop, Vancouver provides the ideal start to your Canadian rail adventure.

Day 3: Vancouver to Kamloops
Travel from the Pacific coast into Canada’s dramatic canyon country
Board the Rocky Mountaineer this morning and enjoy a full day of daylight-only travel in comfort. The train follows the Fraser River through fertile farmland before entering the towering cliffs of the Fraser Canyon. Marvel at the landscapes around Hell’s Gate and watch the scenery shift as river canyons give way to semi-arid hillsides along the Thompson River. Enjoy chef-prepared meals, spacious seating and panoramic windows as ever-changing scenery unfolds before you. Arriving in Kamloops early evening, you’ll transfer to your hotel for a relaxed overnight stay.

Days 4-5: Kamloops to jasper
Ascend into the Canadian Rockies and enjoy two days in tranquil Jasper
Rejoin the train for another spectacular day as you journey northeast toward the heart of the Rockies. Follow the North Thompson River past forested slopes, glacier lakes and wide river valleys, then climb through the Monashee and Cariboo Mountains toward Yellowhead Pass. On clear days, look for Mount Robson—one of the highest and most dramatic peaks in the Canadian Rockies. By late afternoon you arrive in Jasper, where you’ll spend two nights surrounded by awe-inspiring mountain scenery. Over the next day, take time to explore Jasper National Park at your own pace: visit Maligne Canyon, cruise Maligne Lake, ride the Jasper SkyTram, or enjoy gentle lakeside walks while keeping an eye out for wildlife. Jasper’s peaceful, alpine atmosphere makes it the perfect location to unwind after your rail journey.
